November 2024 Vehicle of the Month
Frank Fountain, 1940 Chevrolet
We are very pleased to announce the winner of the November 2024 Customer Vehicle of the Month: Frank Fountain's 1940 Chevrolet! Our Marketing Assistant, Kylie Sickles, had the opportunity to connect with him and find out more about his amazing vehicle and its restomod journey.
Two decades ago, in an unassuming barn northeast of Denver, Colorado, Frank Fountain found a diamond in the rough. Sitting without an interior or a running gear sat a 1940 Chevrolet, its body completely blank. Frank recalls that "it was like a dinosaur dig finding all the parts in fine silt of the farm." For the next fifteen years, he would put together a beautiful frankenstein hot rod, taking a scattered barn find to a stunning work of automotive art.
Frank's work was certainly cut out for him. While some parts were scavenged on the farm, many others had to come from various sources. A new frame from Arizona, a rear end from a 1958 Corvette, and custom cut tinted glass were all added. Under the hood, a fuel injected 350 ci small block engine with a 700 r4 transmission brought the vehicle roaring to life. A number of parts were sourced from Street Rod Headquarters and our parent company, Chevs of the 40's, including a fuel tank, inner rockers, floors, interior trim, window cranks, rear body, and more! Finally, the car was finished with a beautiful coat of 2010 Chevrolet Synergy Green. Restoring this vehicle must have been a mountain of work, but Frank didn't mind. "Vintage cars are my passion. if I had time I would absolutely do it again!"
Now with his hot rod built, Frank keeps it on the roads, driving it every Sunday at least 50 miles if weather permits. The car is known to attend some local car shows and events at a near-by park.
After telling us his car's story, Frank shared some kind words about Chevs of the 40's and Street Rod Headquarters. "I could not have done this without you!! I will always refer your company to any one that has needs for their classic Chevy!!! This has been a bucket list thing of mine to have my car presented by your company. My heart is absolutely full!! Thank you!!!"
Stories like Franks are why we do what we do. The passion and artistry that goes into restoring or modding vintage vehicles fuels us every day, and our customers make our work worth it. A huge thank you and congratulations to Frank Fountain and his 1940 Chevrolet!
